Emily and Elson are little bookworms. After they pull all the books off the shelves, they love to sit in the "book nook" and flip the pages of their books. We've recently had to put up all non-board books because they both have a bad habit of eating the pages.

When I was pregnant with the twins, my biggest question to other moms of multiples was "how do you grocery shop with two babies?" After listening to lots of advice, we decided what worked best for us was to have one baby in the shopping cart and one baby attached to me in the baby bjorn. Elson always gets the baby bjorn, because he has a difficult time sitting in the cart for extended periods. As he gets bigger, it's becoming more of a challenge to carry him like this, but I think we have a few more months until we have to figure out another option. Sam's is the best for people with twins, as their shopping carts can accommodate two babies. I wish Target had that option.

This weekend was busy. Friday night we were fortunate enough to attend a wonderful ceremony for Uncle Mark's graduation from the surgical residency program. All the residents gave beautiful speeches, but I thought Mark's was the best (although I may be biased). After the program we took advantage of the babysitter and went out to the steakhouse for a couple of drinks with Uncle Mark, Aunt Mel, and Uncle Brad. The next morning, we met everyone for brunch at Another Broken Egg to celebrate Uncle Mark's birthday. That evening, the party continued with dinner at our house. It was so nice to spend the weekend celebrating Uncle Mark's achievement. We are so proud of him!

Poor Drew spent his first father's day coming down with the same virus that the twins and I are recovering from. Nevertheless, it was a nice day filled with love. Emily and Elson are so lucky to have such a wonderful Dad.

Today the twins are eleven months old!! Only one more month and we will have two one-year olds...I can't believe it!! We are having so much fun watching these sweet babies grow up, albeit a little too fast for our liking. At eleven months, Emily has a feisty personality, the sweetest giggle I've ever heard, prefers to eat peaches everyday, loves to rip up paper and chase her brother around the house. Elson has an infectious smile, is a complete show-off, refuses to eat anything but puffs some days, loves to push around his walker, and is a little rough for his sister.

Last night was rough. Elson woke up from his afternoon nap yesterday with a 103 degree fever, so we headed over to the doctor. Turns out the twins have a nasty virus! Well, at least Elson does. Emily seems to be over it for the most part. There is not much we can do other than try to control his temperature and give him lots of love. He went to bed fine last night, but woke up at 2am at which point we took to the glider and rocked the rest of the night. Emily was so sweet, when I went in to get Elson at 2am, she was standing in her crib looking over Elson very concerned for his well being. Not only was Elson sick last night, but terrible thunderstroms rolled through our area, which means Sam was also up most of the night. All that being said, I think we will stay in our pajamas today.

We have two sick babies on our hands. Emily started to run a fever on Saturday and Elson's started up this morning. Emily's fever is gone now and she seems to be on the upswing. Hopefully Elson isn't far behind her. I feel so bad for them. They want to play, but also want to rest.

This past weekend we headed down to Baton Rouge for the LSU Baseball Regional. When we got to town on Saturday we stopped by to see Mike the Tiger, who rudely slept through our visit. Then we took a walk down memory lane and headed to Spanish Town where we visited the Capitol and drove past our old apartment. We even saw our old landlord Darryl. We were so excited to show him the twins. After that we headed to lunch at the Chimes with Uncle Brad and Leslie. The menu has changed, but the atmosphere was the same and the company was as wonderful as always. Once we finished lunch, Drew and Brad spent some quality guy time together while the twins and I headed to Vanessa's house. The twins skipped naps and played with Baby Madeleine, Vanessa, and Judice (Caroline napped). After a fun filled day, Drew and I put the twins down for the night and went to the baseball game with Pops and Uncle Mark while Momie and Cousin Ellie stayed with the twins. The next morning, we met Grandma at Coffee Call for breakfast before heading back to Shreveport. We only had one injury the whole weekend....Emily busted her eye on the corner of a coffee table. Aside from Emily's injury, it was a crazy, fun, wild weekend. I'm tired!

Elson had a minor procedure performed on his right eye this morning. He was born with a blocked tear duct that usually go away on their own in a couple of months. Unfortunately, Elson's did not go away and needed to be cleared. A pediatric eye specialist probed it this morning and now it's all clear. It only took about 5 minutes for the actual procedure. The hardest part was that he couldn't have anything to eat or drink until it was over and he woke up hungry!! He is feeling much better and hopefully he won't have any more eye problems. Thanks to everyone who sent prayers our way this morning!
