Christmas Day 2012

We had a great Christmas day in the Smith household.  The twins were so excited to see all the gifts that Santa left them.  They really loved all their presents, but I think their favorites were the musical instruments from Santa and the kitchen from Momie and Pops.  Drew and I had so much fun watching the twins enjoy their Christmas, but I think next year will be even better.  They didn't really "get" it this year.  They do love that there's a tree in the house.  Every morning they run in the front room screaming "tree!"  It's really cute.  Ready for picture overload, here it is.....

I got the big girls caboodles.  They didn't know what they were....I miss the 90s.

Christmas Card

The twins never seem to cooperate when we are trying to get a picture for our Christmas card.  Sometimes you just have to go with what you have, which is what I have done the past two years.

PS....Please excuse the quality.  These are pictures of pictures.

Santa Claus

Drew and I took the twins to get their picture with Santa last weekend.  We decided ahead of time to do a "drop and run."  Literally, we dropped them on Santa's lap at the same time and took off so that the photographer could get the picture.  As soon as we approached Santa, both babies knew something funny was going on and started clinging to us.  It was a little difficult to pry them off of us for the drop.  They both screamed....loudly.  I'm not sure this picture captures just how loud it really was.

40 Under 40

Drew was recently selected by the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce as one of area's top 40 under 40 professionals and last weekend was the gala.  We had a great time and were so happy that Momie and Pops were able to join us for the celebration.  Drew is such an amazing attorney, but more importantly he is an amazing husband and father.  I'm so lucky to have him as my partner!

Two Years Ago Today

On this morning, two years ago, we headed to the doctor's office to have my blood drawn for a pregnancy test.  I was scared to death that it would come back negative, or, even worse in my opinion, it would come back too low to be viable.  It was a long day waiting for those results.   The doctor's office called Drew that afternoon with the results.  He came home to tell me the good news.  When I heard him pull up, I opened the door and he was holding a piece of paper with our beta reading on it...58.7.  I was thrilled.  A good, strong number for only being about 3 weeks and 2 days pregnant.  While it was a good number, it was by no means high enough to indicate multiples.  In fact when we went in a week later for our first ultrasound, there was clearly one sack and one baby.  All evidence pointed to us having a singleton.  Three long weeks later, we were back at the doctor's office to get the heartbeat ultrasound.  I was so nervous that I couldn't look at the screen.  The doctor began the scan and very calmly asked Drew "how many babies did I say last time?"  Drew said "ONE."  The doctor quickly replied with "well, there are two heartbeats."  I guess Drew was in shock because his response was "are you telling me that my baby has two hearts!?!"  It was a very funny moment that I will never forget!  We are blessed!

Good, strong beta number!

Tepee Madness

When my Dad asked what the twins may want for Christmas, I quickly responded that I - I mean they - would LOVE a tepee tent.  Well, I was right.  When the twins woke up to a tepee this morning, they could not have been more excited.  We have spent all day playing in the tepee.  It is the place to be!

It is so big!  All 4 of us can fit in it!

Elson is crying because he lost the battle for the baby doll.

Notice that the baby doll has been abandoned by both of them.  Poor baby!

Santa Train

The Kansas City Southern train line has a really cool Santa Train that made a stop in Shreveport this week.  Apparently we weren't the only ones excited about seeing the Santa Train because the line was REALLY long.  I'm not sure we would stand in that long of a line again for it, but the twins loved all the decorations and even came away with a goodie bag.  There was an opportunity to take pictures with Santa at the end, but you had to wait in another line.  There was no way I was going to convince Drew and the twins to wait in anymore lines.  I guess we will have to make a special trip to see Santa next week.

This isn't a great picture, but it was the best I could do on a tiny train

Family Pictures

We had family pictures taken a few weeks ago. They were taken in the afternoon, which isn't a great time for the twins, but it was the only time slot available for weeks.  That being said, I think we still got a few good ones.  Here are my favorites.

That Time of Year

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around the Smith household.  This year Drew was determined to decorate the outside of the house. Even though all the decorations don't exactly match, it looks pretty good.  We even managed to get our tree up and decorated.  Lots of people warned me that trees can be a hazard with two toddlers, but so far it hasn't posed too big of a threat.  The twins are fascinated with all the decorations, but I explained that the tree was a "no touch" and that seems to have stuck with them.  According to Emily all of the decorations are "cool."

I think this is a really neat picture of the tree!
